2017 DIVE SCHEDULE Fun Day Dives

WELCOME TO THE #SCUBAholic 2017 Dive Schedule!

Kim Sidemounting

Here's the dive scoup on Aquatic Adventures Diving

Several years ago, Aquatic Adventures of MI decided that diving needed to be more accessible and more affordable.  Single divers needed buddies, as well as new divers needed experience.  So Aquatic Adventures of MI started their Wednesday (Hump Day) Diving which is "Free" and everyone is welcome to join us.   Please join our Meetup group www.meetup.com/aaofmi

Hump Day Dive Schedule:

The Hump Day Diving is "Free" to everyone who wants to dive with Aquatic Adventures of MI. Meeting time is 6:30pm, with a dive time at 7:00pm.

Weather Permitting:  Dives are cancelled if a Tornado or Thunderstorm Watch/Warning is issued in the county we are diving in.

Flags & Floats:  Michigan DNR require that 2-3 person dive teams must use a divers flag & float when they are diving inland & the Great Lakes. Please bring yours, if you don't have one, Aquatic Adventures of MI has them for you to purchase.

Dive Flag & Float

Cost:  All dives are free except for park entry and parking fees.  If we are holding an event such as a Poker Run, Treasure Hunt those events will have a fee but again, it's optional if you participate.

New!!!  Aquatic Adventures Dive Team

Come out and dive with Aquatic Adventures and collect scuba points to win great scuba prizes like beach towels, dive hats, Aquatic Adventures Fleece pull over, or a Boat Coat.  It doesn't cost anything to join us, you just have to particitpate at Hump Day Dive Events.  At the end of the Dive Season, we will have a special awards night at one the local brewing companies.

May 10: Spring Mill Pond-Island Lake Recreational Park-Buoyancy Challenge

Spring Mill Pond

Lake Description: This peaceful spot has the advantage of no boats, no current, a sandy beach, and bathrooms! The pond has a maximum depth around 35 feet, and is home to several species of fish, especially near the reed-bordered edges of the pond. Sights include 2 platforms, a SCUBA Buddha,  a snowmobile, an underwater bathroom (complete with toilet, tub, & sink), and more

Optional Event:  Spring is the time to fine tune your buoyancy control. Aquatic Adventures will submerge rings off the platforms, the dive rings will be positioned between the 2 platforms at various depths.  Can you hover with in the dive rings without hitting the sides?  You have nothing to loose, only buoyancy to gain. An additional 2 bonus points for participating in the Buoyance Course

Aquatic Adventures Dive Team Points:  2 points for diving tonight or 1 point for attending but staying on shore.

Dive Site Directions: Spring Mill Pond is located inside the Island Lake Recreation Area. It sits in the western end of the park. Enter the recreation area turning east off of Kensington Road south of Interstate 96. Drive through the booths and turn right. Follow this winding road a little over two miles to the pond which is actually a swimming area with a large beach. There are signs at the turn off and ample parking at the beach area. A DNR Recreation Passport is needed to enter this State Park.

May 17:  Bishop Lake, Brighton Recreation Area

Bishop Lake

Lake Description: This location has plenty of parking and a nice picnic pavilion to hold us all. Be prepared to haul your gear a little to the pavilion and down/up the hill to the lake. I saw some really neat wagons/carts some divers are using. Maybe we should have a prize for the best method for schlepping our gear?  The water is shallow (15-20 ft) fairly close to the shore but there is a nice 50 ft hole in easy swimming distance. Vis is usually fair. Don't forget your diver floats, flashlights and a slate is a good idea.

Aquatic Adventures Dive Team Points:  2 points for diving tonight or 1 point for attending but staying on shore.

Dive Site Directions: Follow signs from I-96 through Brighton on Brighton Rd. to Chilson Rd. Turn left on Chilson Rd. and after 1.5 miles turn left on Bishop Lake Rd. After 0.8 miles turn left into Brighton State Recreation Area and follow signs to fishing pier. A DNR Recreation Passport is needed to enter this State Park.

May 24: Union Lake, Commerce Township

Union Lake

Description:  We will be sharing the parking lot with fisher people and their vehicles and trailers, so park 2 to a spot (head to tail). You'll have to play Frogger to cross the road from the parking lot to the boat launch where we will be getting into the lake. Come to think of it, we DO look a little like frogs when we wear our fins & gear, but don't wear them when crossing the road. YES, it is a boat launch, but it is used by divers on a frequent basis. Don't forget your diver floats, flashlights and a slate is a good idea.

Aquatic Adventures Dive Team Points:  2 points for diving tonight or 1 point for attending but staying on shore.

May 31: Silver Lake, Pinckney MI

Pinckney Lake

Aquatic Adventures Dive Team Points:  2 points for diving tonight or 1 point for attending but staying on shore.
